Orenstein & Koppel B/No. 12331 ex- Sub Nigel Gold Mines Ltd, South Africa |
Orenstein & Koppel B/N 12331 displayed at the Puffing Billy Museum, Menzies Creek on 8 October 2002.
This interesting 0-6-0WT locomotive was built by Orenstein & Koppel in 1931 as their builder's number's 12331, becoming No.3 in the locomotive fleet at the Sub Nigel Gold Mines Ltd, South Africa. No.3 was obtained for preservation by the Puffing Billy Railway Preservation Society and imported to Australia in the early 1970's. It has since been displayed at the Puffing Billy Museum, Menzies Creek. Being of 2' 6" gauge, perhaps the original intention was that it would be restored for operation on the Puffing Billy Railway. b Here is a listing of Preserved Orenstein & Koppel Steam Locomotives. |
