Fyansford No.11

Perry Engineering 267 of 1926

David Price has provided this view of Fyansford Cement Works No.11 newly arrived at the Bellarine Railway's Queenscliff depot,

awaiting assessment for possible return to service.

This locomotive was built by Perry Engineering in 1926 as their builder's number 267, and was one of a group of twelve locomotives purchased by the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission of Victoria for construction of the Hume Weir on the Murray River, near Albury.

Its last user was Australian Portland Cement at their Fyansford Cement Works, where it was number 11.

Following retirement from operation, Fyansford Cement Works No.11 passed into preservation and had been statically displayed for many years under a weather roof at the Puffing Billy Museum, Menzies Creek. (b)

Together with a number of other locomotives, Fyansford No.11 moved from the Menzies Creek Museum to the Bellarine Railway on 7 June 2010.  It is now  at Queenscliff awaiting a boiler assessment.  Subject to positive results, this locomotive may be returned to service for "Thomas the Tank Engine" days and other light duties.
